The use of symbolism in The Great Gatsby is what defiantly pushed it to make readers think and entertain readers with new ideas of symbolism and ways of portraying it. If it wasn’t for all the deeper meanings in the book, it would not be the classic it is today. Eckleburg, and Gatsby’s books are what bring together the novel and expand the characters to make this book great. Situated at the end of Daisy’s East Egg dock and barely visible from Gatsby’s West Egg lawn, the green light represents Gatsby’s. Besides that the man symbolizes wisdom, the opposite of gatsby, especially around Gatsby’s books. The Owl Eyed Man is one of the few people to go to Gatsby’s funeral, thus giving the god-like overseer a more clear purpose. He makes observations and leaves it up to Nick to decide what to do. The Owl Eyed Man is another god-like figure in the book. It means he is willing to do anything for her, which does feed to the story, but it’s hopeless for him. This means Gatsby is being a fraud, just like he got his money, being a criminal or a liar and bootlegging alcohol.
